Matt Albiani is a New York-based photographer, but his heart is deeply embedded in the New England roots from which he was raised. A lover of the ocean and outdoors, his view of the world can be summed up in a mellow and lazy summer afternoon. Sought after by mostly fashion clients like Ralph Lauren and J.Crew, he ventured into music this past year when he shot the Jonas Brothers for their latest album cover.
Last summer, Matt released his first book of photographs called LIFEGUARD ON DUTY, an homage to the coveted occupation which also employed his college summers. He spent four years photographing lifeguards on beaches from Oahu to Cape Cod, and the result is the perfect summer coffee table book. The tome celebrates the sunniest and sultriest day in the life of an American guard. He is currently at work on his second book on college rowers, another autobiographical slant from his past.
Matt's New York beginnings involved set design, interior design, and assisting stylists. Matt fell in love with the concept of a room as an empty canvas. Matt's aesthetic is the well-worn and laid-back lifestyle of a Nantucket sailor - like himself, casual and weathered, a bit familiar, and steeped in the romance of the past.
